I had some of that style sent as a replacement. I found the recess was longer than the one they replaced and the other kegs i have. They wouldn't work with my keg couplers - let gas into the beer out causing sputtering and foam. They gouged a groove into my coupler. Have you tried them yet...?
In the end I found the the spring in the leaking spear just needed a stretch...

I've been using these for 2 years with no probs. It depends on the coupler too. Micromatic and dsi couplers are really snug where as others are not so snug. I did have a spear from them that had angled tabs, it helped the coupler turn when putting it on and off but it also ment that the coupler was easy to turn and pop off. They replaced it for me. A few other members that had kegs the same time had their spears replaced too. No big problem though.
Here you go;

All 3 of mine are angled slightly. I have a nrv micromatic coupler I picked up from the sates which seems to fit snugly. I just need a couple more!

Cool, sounds like I need to give them another ring then. Cheers!

Probably not the proper thread, but in addition to my new kegs, I've just received 3 new shinies from Candirect in Germany; great service btw

Crusader will only sell direct on a minimum order of 25 pieces now.
They have a link to brewuk.co.uk who are reselling smaller quantities for them but the 20L is £74.99 rather than £64.80.
However the £25 p&p Crusader charge versus free at brewuk means that it works out cheaper for 1 or 2 kegs.
EDIT; S-type spear only. The worst part.. no name plate or colour! nooooo

No name plate or colour seems sensible to me, I never had mine painted or a name plate as I may decide to sell them one day and I think that will be easier without any markings on them.

My main reason to get 30l crusaders was I could get a full 5 gal batch in without bottling + they will still be easily available for a long time to come

I was looking to get another couple kegs but was really hoping to get them with an A type spear as that's what my other 2 are wonder if brewuk would be able to get me these.
