Well, the cornies tried and tested. Just got to wait for the Linthwaite Lite to finish.

Couldn't wait for pay day I've got another cornie winging its way to me as I type.

DaaB, I also got Norman to sling in some y pieces for the line in anticipation of my future multi keg set up ;)

Stonking news - thanks daab. I was on the verge of buying another gas reg when all I need is a couple of T-pieces. (is that iodine in the spray btw?)

Well I ordered my Cornie from Norman yesterday, A trip to Wolverhampton later this week to pick up some gas, and also I hope a boiler. My hose is on it's way to start my couterflow cooler. Just a mash tun to think about.

Ideally, what size should a cool box be to make a good tun. I can get my hands on polystyrene insulated plastic boxes used in the frozen food industry but they can be very big. I guess too big is not good as you will not get enough depth to the grain bed to filter the wort effectively?

Where in wolverhampton are you getting your gas from?

DaaB, looking at your cornie picture you have grey quick line connectors on your disconnects.

Mine lines are crimped onto the disconnects. From a point of view of cleaning/sanitising/dismantling would it be preferable to use the grey quick connects ?

If so where can I get them from and what are they known as?

Got my new cornie today and one of the posts has a wierd star shaped nut instead of the standard. Anyone know what they're called so I can get something to remove it :(

Some of mine have the star shaped thing - a conventional ring spanner of the correct size will do the job :)

Check out this thread http://www.forumforfree.com/forums/inde ... wtopic=393, there is a post by James with a link to a website about rebuilding corny kegs and one of his posts has a 12 point star socket on.

Sorry Ian - missed your question. The gas came from Grosvenor Gas Supplies in Wolverhampton who do deliver to our local area but not really for the quantities that I need just yet. I braved the roadworks on the M6 and picked up a cylinder today and then on to Machine mart for a regulator.

My Cornie arrived on Wednesday, was stripped and cleaned yesterday (what else should you do on your birthday!), alas the next brew kit is still in the box so it'll be a few days before either keg or CO2 see any serious action.

The picnic box you suggested DaaB was one I was thinking of, Wilkinsons do a similar one at a penny under a tenner but our local store have sold out. I've miles of 22mm copper tubing and end feed fittings already so that looks OK. The outer tube for my CFC is on order, just gotta sort a boiler out now then as soon as my Kit is in the secondary I'll see if I'm brave enough to Mash Sparge & Boil.

I only wondered as i went to grosvner and it took me ages to find and in the end had to ask! It was in some red gates that looked like a coal depot with a portacabin that looked like it would fall to bits at any moment ;)

You didn't by any chance get the IR2C if so is the second gauge for flow or pressure?
Daab has one and it was flow, i e-mailed tech support recently and they told me it was pressure.
Whats yours?

Yeah Norm sent me those too - they are nice stainless barbs though aren't they? :) worth a bit more then the JG fittings.
