Vossy1, thanks, that's an intersting thought. If I took the plastic trim off the extra shelf, it would still be too big to sit flat on an un-modified shelf. I think I'd have to get it cut down a bit.

What would aquarium sealent look like between two pieces of glass? Would it be visible?

How about clear silicon:

Johnmac, I kept aquariums for years, I'm talking big aquariums 6' x 4' x 5', 12mm glass, amazingly thin for the weight they hold.

The clear silicon will fade to opaque white on exposure to air and water, but between the glass plates it will remain clear

Just a thought as its a cheap mod ;)

Kegerator underway. Found this small Iberna chest freezer accomodates 2 corny kegs quite easily with room behing them for a small gas bottle and regs. Plan now is just to get hold of a thermostat so that It can be used as a fridge. Then I intend to fit a font in the top like Jasons. The digital thermostat somebody suggested from http://www.coleparmer.co.uk/catalog/pro ... ku=9352015 unfortunately has a lead time of 3-4weeks as it comes over from the states. The Ranco thermostat from Hop & Grape seems the best bet at the moment although its more expensive.

50L keg??????
I looked for ages to find a suitable fridge or freezer that could accomodate a 50L keg and found this to be more difficult than I anticipated. A small ice cream freezer I think would be ideal, the ones with the glass sliding lids. They come with wheels to move them around for parties etc and they should accomodate possibly 2x 50L kegs but unfortunately they don't come cheap and I haven't that much space.

That small chest freezer looks good. Where did you source that beauty from?

That was me ;) It says "available in 7 days" on the website. Have you contacted them?

Shaun that fridge looks pretty ideal for a couple of corny's :)
I just couldn't find an under counter fridge 2nd hand without the annoying freezer compartment. Love the digital display too! & welcome :)

Tribs - the freezer is one that we had already but I did pick one identicle up at a local auction last year for £15 (although unfortunately if literally went up in smoke.) Loads of these in the http://www.friday-ad.co.uk/ or local papers.

The buy online facility on Cole Parmer wouldn't work so I rang them and they said 3 weeks. Hop and Grape have the Ranco thermostat in stock for £54. Quite a splash but I think its worth it as I'll wire it with a plug and socket so that I can swap it between the kegerator/ lagering chest and a HE-Recirc Mash System.

It's a shame that it's the fridge for food too! I split up with my girlfriend last weekend and she left the fridge (took everything else though).

I've eaten the food, removed the draws and hey-presto - no more salads and cool beer!!!!

Pondering an idea....little acorns and all that.

2 buffed and shiny cornies on full view through a glass door, subtly backlit, maybe in neon blue with mini glitter ball....hmmmmm.

This forum can be seriously dangerous to your health...or so the wife tells me :bonk

Frothy, I am considering a temp controller for my fridge freezer.

I searched for specs for the Ranco and it seems the ouput relay is only 8A for 240VAC. Can you confirm the rating and that it doesn't blow when used with the freezer  :D
