Re: Pump
How hygienic are the pumps inside, I have quite a few Topsflo models + chugger + the bullet proof Speck my2 all with varying internals. Only a few pumps would I consider on the cool side of things.

Re: Pump
The surfaces of the chamber and impeller are reasonably smooth and accessible, so should be easily cleaned. I'm told by Matt that the body is made from polysulfone which is suitable for use in contact with food and tolerant to high temperatures with encapsulated/coated magnets.barneey wrote:How hygienic are the pumps inside, I have quite a few Topsflo models + chugger + the bullet proof Speck my2 all with varying internals. Disassemby is a simple task, the chamber splits in two, held in place by six Phillips head bolts allowing the impeller with attached magnets to simply lift out. To be honest, the clearances are quite large and hope they would be large enough to allow small pieces of material to pass through without getting stuck. Hops might be a different matter, but It won't take long to strip and clean.

Re: Pump
Any chance of a photo of the insides please.
The outside looks similar to "those" Aussie Ali Express ones.

I think they are the same. Busy fitting a new letterbox, just in to warm my fingers. Will post one later.barneey wrote:Any chance of a photo of the insides please.

Re: Pump
Looks like a pretty good true mag drive, and as easy to disassemble/clean as Eric suggested. The black plastic looks just like the Polysulfone of my march-may pump, too.
I may be mis-reading the long thread that Clive found, but there seems to be a suggestion that the original high temperature kaixin pump was of a lesser material - just with sloppier clearances (and so less head) to allow for the greater expansion in the heat?

Re: Pump
I have not read through the old thread again / there were also others. The problem did lie in the operation, or lack off, at high temps so yes an expansion problem.Kev888 wrote:Looks like a pretty good true mag drive, and as easy to disassemble/clean as Eric suggested. Looks very similar to the Topsflo TS5 inside?

Yep the impeller looks very similar to the ts5. I might still have an old ts5 somewhere in the shed I will try and locate it. The screws are good quality and won't wear like the ts5 or other solar pumps. You can take this pump apart very easily.

Re: Pump
I save you finding the TS5, I have just taken the one I have apart, & the impeller set up is VERY similar. In comparison the Topsflo TL-C12H I bought from a fellow JBK member last week is VERY different inside.

Re: Pump
Yes again. Feeding the output through a half inch ball valve and slowly cranking it shut then just cracking it open spoke volumes. It was similar when raising the output head above its rated height when the motor didn't groan or stall.barneey wrote:Yes & 240vEric wrote:

Re: Pump
With the TS5 being small, I am able to mount it direct to the boiler, eliminating another hose to clean + easier to prime, not too sure if I would want to with a 240v pump or the size it is.
