sounds like my touchscreen brew controller

ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate

I bought a package scale for under the MT. Means i dont have to lift water or full mt to the stand. Great for weighing grain too.

looks very similar to the proship2 300kg scales i use, the usb connection allows for a degree of automation tooDeebee wrote:I bought a package scale for under the MT. Means i dont have to lift water or full mt to the stand. Great for weighing grain too.

Re: Arduino Project: HLT volume display using bathroom scale
I used mine for a "proper brew"last week.
Calibrated it with fvs filled to certain levels for a theoretical known volume. Worked a treat.
No more humping water and full mash tuns for me!

Right, this project is back on but with a rethink.
I'm going to use a Wii balance board as the scales and communicate with it using an Arduino + bluetooth.

Cool! I was just thinking about my build yesterday after just about finishing the rest of the Arduino code for my HERMS controller. When I last left it I was having trouble altering the gain on the amplifier chip.
It looks like I may be in a position to get a test brew on soon, it's been far too long!
Cheers,
Jamie

Re: Arduino Project: HLT volume display using bathroom scale
Would love to see this up and working, my automated brewery uses a peristaltic pump to pump water from HLT to mash MT, but it's slow at 300ml per minute. By the time the MT is filled, the temp is lower than strike temp so i have to use the RIMs to raise the temps again. I was toying with the idea of fitting another pump in paralel for £70 which would double the speed of the fill, but it'd stil take 15mins or so.
If i could open a valve and shut it again when a certain amount of weight has been lost out of the HLT then it'd be filled in a minute
Good luck with it Andy!
Steve
Ps did you see the instrucatable at the begining of this thread has been updated as so many people had problems with the INA125P?

OK, update time.
I've now got a Wii balance board talking to an Arduino Uno via Bluetooth and am getting a weight reading
Next step is to rig up the water solenoid I've got to the Uno and have it control the fill level of the HLT.
