yes!!
Although I only use it occasionally, when we are having a party and will get through a lot of beer. Otherwise I don't see the point - until I can find a cask breather that is!!
At the moment I will open the release valve on the corny and then hook it up to the beer engine, this works fine. Although at the end of the session i then need to put the CO2 back in in order to purge any air out ans reseal the lid.
A cask breather would go in line between the corny and co2 regulator & only allows c02 into the corny when the pressure drop below atmospheric pressure. i.e. It keeps the head space full of co2 at atmospheric pressure, meaning the beer can be dispensed with a beer engine and preventing the beer from becoming oxidised.
I've not been able to get hold of a cask breather anywhere, which is a pain!!

awesome - I've got a higene pump but it's got a bent piston shaft - I've asked at cfbs there if they do spares. I grabbed a pack of the 3/8 - 1/2" hose tail stem adapters and they are really neat in the corny JG quick connects
To use a cask breather can you use a standard regulator? what kind of psi?

OK, just got a return email from BeersUnlimited; half the price of getting one here! Has anyone seen it? Does it compare to the one at UKbrewing.com over here?
I think I have found a Christmas present for myself. Well, another one....
Well, just finished emailing with Cliff and he said the the cask breather in question will not fit a corny keg setup, only casks. Can't figure out why unless the breather actually fits into the cask, oh well...

Now that I've been armed with the term "cask aspirator", I did a quick search and found this: http://www.scot-bev.com/products/cellarcask.html
Anyone heard of them or know if they sell direct?

I've got one of these in my 'box of interesting bits that I don't know what they do'. I also have a beer engine...... excellent, I think I'll hook them up to one of my Corny kegs. I'll let you know how it all goes. Thanks for the link!flytact wrote:Now that I've been armed with the term "cask aspirator", I did a quick search and found this: http://www.scot-bev.com/products/cellarcask.html
