Thread sizes for C02 / Pub gas

Post by Russ » Wed Dec 20, 2006 10:27 pm

Sorry if this has been answered before.

Are the threads the same on these bottles? I have a Co2 regulator and was considering using it on a pub gas bottle. If no good I'll have to stick with straight Co2.

Cheers

By "Pub Gas" are you talking about the nitrogen mixed gas rather than plain old CO2?

Hi Guys

Yeah looking at using nitrogen/Co2 mix

I have a Co2 reg and want to use it on a mixed gas bottle, apparently there both the same thread but Co2 is male thread and Pub gas is female thread. So my Co2 regulator won't fit the mixed gas bottle.

Anyone know what thread size it is?- maybe I can get an adaptor??

Sorry Russ, I have no idea of the thread size.

Where did you get your pub gas cylinder though? I fancy putting a stout on it sometime. 8)

I hope you get the info you want.

Hi Phil

Gas supplier is in Worcester, they do Co2 or pub gas. Just checked the forum, looks like can't use the Co2 reg with pub gas as there engineered diffrently even if I could get round the male/female issue. Looks like I'm sticking with Co2 as don't want to buy another reg as yet.

This place has a good selection Seveneer, the Co2 is £15.86 no rental, and if I remember correctly the mixes were about £1 more. Not far from you either

I recently got a c02 cylinder from Andover patio centre - very easy & people there really helpful :D . The guy there checked what sort of gas I wanted for dispense, so definitely worth giveing them a bell re mixed gas and fitting for the regulator. I got my reg from one of these (can't remember which!)

Don't try and use a CO2 reg on a mixed gas bottle even with an adaptor. The pressure in the mixed gas bottle is a lot higher and there's a good chance of death.

He seems to have a few. I recently bought one as a spare for £11.50 + postage.
