Stupid question...

Post by Stu-pid » Thu Feb 15, 2007 12:11 am

I've found some Corny kegs on ebay, but they all say they only hold 4gallons. What use are they? Every kit I know of makes 5gallons!

The benefits of corny use much outway the loss in volume 8)

Are they really worth the out lay of near £150 for 2 kegs, gas cylinder and regulators?

How many cornies have you guys got?

I mentioned them to SWMBO and she didn't say a thing, either she wasn't paying attention, as usual, or she went shopping today> I took that to mean as long as it does not get in her way, she never goes in the garden let alone the garage

I have 6x19L cornies, 1x10L corny and now 4x30L BevKegs.

As for the cost well some of mine were found not being used (one for example came from a pub fitters warehouse I used to get parts from - it was just sitting there looking lonely and I asked and they said take it) and a couple came from homebrew shops. I've had them for quite a while.

The regs and parts etc can be got fairly cheaply from ebay. The hardest thing to source is a gas cylinder - if you pay rental or much more than £15 a refill you're being ripped off.

I did say 'much more that £15'

To my mind that means £15.01 is probably OK....£17 is getting expensive and £20 is taking the p*ss.

Surely even at £20 for just under 6.5 kg of gas it's a lot better value than £5 to £6 for 300g in an S30 bottle.
Now that is taking the p1ss in my opinion

There's only one place that sells gasses of any kind around here, and i think they only sell butanes, and nitrogen for TIG welding. Not entirely sure. I certainly don't think i can get oxy anywhere unlesss i raid the hospital, and co2 from stealing all the local fire extinguishers....

o2 for aerating wort.

eheim pumps bring back memories of fishtanks, and require hepa filters.

;D

Just splash it into your bucket. Pour it through a seive to help even move.

That's foamier than a rabid bulldog that just ate a crate of bubblebath.

Just my way of showing that IMO there's no need for Oxygen injection or air pumps (if you are able to drop) Pitching an active starter into a well aerated wort will limit the possibility of any infection 8-[ [-o<
