Do these mixing paddles really aid adding oxygen in to the wort?
These are available in a chrome finish for just over £3.

You could always dust it off and shove it in a plastic bag.
It's either the paddle in the drill or Frothy's idea with the 12v compressor and air stone. I imagine the paddle could prove to be a bit messy.

That looks pretty ideal. Just be sure to sanitize it

If I were to use some compressor/pump to aerate then it would be something intended for aquariums or similar rather than inflating tyres/camping beds

Depending on which fermenter I use depends on how I aerate.
If it is my better bottle, I put the bung in and shake/roll as much as my arms can take.
If it is my bucket fermenter, I pour in from a height which gives plenty of aeration. I also occasionally get the hand whisk out and beat some air into the wort. I'm not too sure why I haven't bothered with the electric whisk yet though.....

Would this stir the grains into the liquor in the mashtun? I hate the stirring in, spoon in one hand, grain bin in the other.

I can see that.
Does anyone use a mechanical method of mixing the grains?

Will do Frothy. It should be easier to clean due to its chrome finish.
...must do a search for a stainless version!

Mashman - It's pretty certain to say that we all give the mash a good stir witha wooden spoon @ dough in. & probably 1/2 way through too.
Special Brew - happy brewing

Opening the mash-tun up half way through for mixing you will unnecessarily loose heat

I stir my mash (every 15 minutes), but I don't use an insulated mash tun, so I need to distribute the heat through the grains.
