2" Cap

Post by PieOPah » Sun Feb 25, 2007 7:33 pm

I remember there was already a thread but I couldn't find it...

Anyway, yet another of my 2" caps has split. I must be over tightening as there is no other explanation - I'm sure I'm not putting them on THAT tight but hey....

Anyway, I really would prefer not to have to pay £8 + for a cap with an S30 valve as I already have 1 (or quite possible 2 or 3 somewhere!). Does safety valve come out with ease or would I have to cut it out?

Thanks :)

Thanks DaaB.

know that i can remove the s30 valve from the cap which is why i wanted to buy a cap without one.

Can buy a cap with Safety Valve only and would i need to cut the valve out or would t push out?

I had exactly the same problem, I wanted to replace the standard valve with an S30 so I drilled the center piece out with a drill bit approx 1mm larger than the S30 thread and trimmed off any rough bits with a stanley knife. I was a little concerned that the gas cylinder wouldn't screw down into the recess of the lid but the S30 valve and cylinder fitted perfectly. I used a flat drill bit like these to make the hole. Sorry I can't remember the size off the top of my head.

Thanks both. I'll make a few calls and if that doesn't work, I can measure the hole and drill away the relief valve :)

Hop and Grape come through for me (wonderful people there).

£1.25 for a cap with no valve and they have even added it to the website :)
