More antipodean DIY-craft!

I've been thinking about making one of these but sourcing the large o-rings over here seems the hard bit.

i got several funels from asda for a quid each, they are 10 inches in diametre which is no bad!

i've got an endless supply of buckets from work. they're 22 litre green food grade buckets that we get glucose syrup in. was thinking of contacting a few homebrew shops to see if they wanted to buy a pallet or two to get them off my hands!!

That's the size the Oz bloke was using but he was using it in conjunction with a 20L fermenter rather than a 25L

It would probably be easiest to convert one of these wine fermentors (as it already has a sloped top.

turn it upside down & poly cement a funnel over the threads for the lid. You'd have to create a new opening at the top though.

Just measured the base of a few 25L fermenter bins and they're all 11" diameter...

Making a conical fermentor out of copper
http://hbd.org/brewniversity/engineering/conical/

So the benefit of a conical fermentor is being able to rack off the yeast
from the bottom & so use it as both a primary & 2ndary fermentor?

This looks quite handy if you have a glass carboy:

i've heard from a few of our american cousins that the fermentap thingys are actually more hassel than they are worth, which is a pity as they look very nifty!
