Shiny things from IKEA

Post by Zebra » Sun Oct 01, 2006 8:25 am

I'm getting along with building my brewing equipment now. I found some stainless steel topped kitchen units in IKEA and reckon they are a good base for the kit as they don't mind getting wet. Seeing as everyone seems to be keen on piccies I'll try and post a photo here of what I've done so far, obviously the wiring still needs to be finished. Most of the wires you can see are for the temperature probes for the HLT and one to monitor the mash temperature.

Looking good, Zebra! 8)

Is that (utility?) room dedicated to brewing?

Jim, how astute of you (your mind works like mine then in terms of converting things to brewing purposes)! Actually, I'm getting to the point that there is more brewing kit than utilitising kit so I suppost the room has progressed from utility room to BREWERY.

I'm jealous. I'd love to be brave enough to comandeer the utility room for my brewery but I suspect I would soon become a eunuch

Ahh, but you've got a garage - that makes me jealous. I can do a 'Seven' though. Austin that is, so somewhat different to yours although bits of my type of Seven were used by Colin Chapman in the construction of the first versions of your type of Seven.... Sorry, back to beer!

Yes the garage is good but I am concerned with the humidity brewing causes and the effect it has on the Seven and my bike. Therefore, I open the garage door when I boil. God knows what the neighbours think I'm doing :o

I don't think there's much Austin Seven in my Caterham altough I do have Triumph front suspension uprights complete with trunnions :?

very neat - the use of shelves is quite ingenious space saving

Amazing what you can do with a hacksaw, shelf brackets and an old aluminium greenhouse table.

Do you need step ladders to stir the mash? Or are you very tall? :D
