Have a question that I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on after fruitless searches on the net.
I would like to adapt the fridge I store my Cornelius kegs in into a kegerator, and since I already have some beer UK taps with either a 3/16 or 3/8 JG fitting wondering whether these are compatible with the Kegerator shanks that are posted on ebay and other sites like kegworks?
Thanks in advance

Kegerator Taps and Shanks
Re: Kegerator Taps and Shanks
You need to look carefully at the specs. My Dalex taps are UK-made and have a 1/2" BSP male thread to pass through the beer font, plywood temporary bar, fridge door or whatever.
When I looked at shanks from the US recently, they seemed to be 7/8" x 14 tpi on the long threaded part of the shank, but the male thread on the back of the tap is 1 1/8" x 18 tpi so there is a female end on the tap end of the shank to fit that.
The threaded bit on the back of a Dalex tap would pass through the front of a fridge OK, then you'd need a washer or piece of plywood to spread the load a bit before you screw the back nut on, and of course you'll need a bigger hole on the inside of the fridge door to accommodate the nut, plywood and so on.
