Are you sure these are screwed in ?, is it a normal 9 gallon beer keg that you would see at beer festivals etc,
If so the top one can be removed with a screwdriver, but take care not to damage the side of the hole in the barrel,
I`m not sure when you say valve that you mean a tap that as been hammered into the front, if so these will pull out with some force,
keep turning and pulling as they are just knocked through the small hole in the front.
I`m not sure if we are talking about the same barrels so you need to make sure of that before trying anything.

itll probably have pressure in it .those plastic kegs have a safety feature to stop em firing the spear out under pressure when theyre opened. vent the pressure on the sankey valve and it should come off

Hello,
Different ones have different release mechanisms, you could try - with the spear fully unscrewed try pushing the middle section down (it takes quite a bit of force, I use a big handle screwdriver upside down). Also some kegs have a release catch down the side and you have to use a thin screwdriver to operate it.
If either of these don't work I suggest putting a couple of pics on and I'm sure someone will be able to help.

Cheers

Hello,

If i remember when i first attempted to remove the spear and asked for advice it was Tangoman who also pointed me in the right direction.
Since then ive found it alot easier and with less chance of damaging any 'o' rings if i do it this way:-
-De-gas keg (which you have obvioulsy already done)
-I then use a socket and wrench (1 3/8" with 2 notches cut out of its wall to fit tightly over the lugs) to unscrew the spear as far as it goes (which you have done)
- I then use a large inverted screwdriver (the type with a hard straight plastic handle, you will see why soon!, mine was orignally from rs) which fits across the gas inlet (the part of the spear, about 25mm in dia.)
- Then just push down with all of your strength until it bottoms out
-Then angle the scredriver so that the handle wedges against the lip (the lip will dig into the handle and not slip!)
-The spear should now be able to be removed.

I'm only new to this forum lark so haven't mastered attaching images as of yet, but if you need anymore help PM me with your email address and i will take some photos and email them over to you.

Hope this solves your problem,
Cheers
