Co2 Regulator

Post by neilmcca » Sun Feb 12, 2012 12:26 pm

This is my first question on the forum, and no doubt my last,
bear in mind i'm a complete novice to this and know nothing about regulators,
i've seen this on Ebay and its quite close to where i live (not that that matters as it's free postage)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Argon-CO2-Sin ... _500wt_922

but i wanted to make sure it is the correct type of regulator for my needs,
i don't have a co2 bottle yet, or the pipe to connect to my corny (can someone suggest where to get 1 in Manchester area ?)
i've seen regulators on homebrew sites go for around the £50 mark hence my caution.

Thanks in advance,

Neil.

not sure but you may need a purely CO2 type regulator - that one is for Argos/CO2, I presume mixed not one or the other but I may be wrong.

Thats an Argon/Nitrogen reg.

The one you are looking for has a female thread on the end.

something like this you will need the female connector due to the co2 bottle having the male thread. also get some jg fittings for the out from the gas reg.

I believe the connector is wrong for direct mounting to pure CO2 bottles - it would need a female thread to do that.

Also welding-type regulators tend to read out flow rates (lpm) rather than pressures (psi or bar); people have used them, but its a bit awkward to gauge what settings you need. I can't really make it out from the picture but I'd imagine this is a welding type one?

EDIT: +1 - beaten to it several times..

Cheers

Like kev said, you will need to change the gauge really to one that reads 0-30 psi.

They cost about 5-6 pounds off ebay.
