Moving Over To The Dark Side, Jays All Grain Build.

Post by Jay7792 » Wed Jan 23, 2013 1:18 pm

Hi Guys, I have now decided to make the move over to the Dark Side and start All Grain :D

I have ordered my first All Grain Mash Kit from the Home Brewing Centre which should be here soon :)

Thought I would document my progress here of obtaining and building my new All Grain setup.

The Postman arrived with this today,

The Coleman Xtreme is supposed to be a good choice of cooler to be converted into a Mash Tun, I am just about to start on replacing the dodgy tap with a nice new Ball Valve and also making the Copper Manifold

I will post more pics of my progress later on.

Hi Guys,

Thanks Seymour :D

I have now finished the Mash Tun, cutting all those slits in the Copper Manifold took ages!!!

I also picked up some 10mm Copper Pipe (10 metres) to make my own Wort Chiller, but that will be a job for tomorrow. 8)

Very nice.
When making your wort chiller, if you make it in a fancy pattern (see google: wort chillers) or make one which covers the boiler relatively evenly it'll cool much better than just making a single coil in the center. That works of course, and I had on myself, just meant movign the thing about and stirring all the break back into the wort to cool each section.
Worth a thought.
