Beer Taps
I got these last year and was going to use them on a kegerator build, they weigh over 1KG each so are nice and solid and would appear to have had very little use.
Since then I`ve bought a ready made kegerator complete with perlick taps etc.
However just wanted to know a little bit more on the use of these, ie...
Is the plastic part of a flow control device.
The smaller diameter hose plugs into the back of the tap, this would cause an increase in pressure would I therefore have to reduce the pressure keg side to compensate?
Inside one of the taps was a small plastic spike with holes in it, I`m assuming that this would be a sprinkler thingy.
Any help gratefully recieved.
Cheers

Re: Beer Taps
I have one of the taps, but not the other device. Mine has a little steel disc in the outlet with 5 small holes to create a head. Works very well with JG fittings. I force carbonate for a few days, then drop the pressure to under 10psi. It does take a while to pour a pint, about 20 secs.

Re: Beer Taps
Looks like standard lager taps.
The plastic part probably is a flow control, but the long, thin beer line should provide enough resistance for most beers.
These taps are good quality and designed to last a long time.
However they require consistent viscosity and carbonation level to perform at their best.

Does the disc have holes?barneey wrote:Cheers for the reply...

If it does it is most likely a creamer insert.

Re: Beer Taps
Yep it has about 5 "pin pick" size holes in the top circular bit.

Re: Beer Taps
T'is indeed a creamer insert as used on creamflows and Guinness.
BTW lovely taps you have there fella.

Re: Beer Taps
Cant see the pictures at work, but sounds like you just described two of my taps. Around a kilo each, and with a disk and stainless plate in the tap end works as a creamer.

Re: Beer Taps
Can they be used without the "creamer" (horrible idea BTW).

Re: Beer Taps
Ok, they are the taps I have. Except I dont have the adapter things on teh end of your lines, mine just have a standard 3/8 to the smaller reducer.
They can be used withouht the creamer. I have one with and one without, at the pressure I serve its nto too different. I think you need to have a good 15+ psi pushing through the taps ideally, but I dont have a beer gas mix and I don't want to over carb the beer. Si I settle for a very slow pouring pint
