Rich, all the articles on using a pressure cooker at 15psi indicate it will be fine as the temp gets to 135c. Think you are readimg too much into the tube in your cooker. With the water in the bottom being constantly heated the air is probably forced out before the cooker reaches pressure. Anyway shouldn't be a problem

I messaged the above eBay seller selling under two different names. No replies to either message.

Sterilisation using steam under pressure only works if the item to be sterlised is imerrsed in steam. The auto clave I got off eBay has a tube that goes to bottom of the vessel which allows the air to be removed once up to temp.

My point being if your using the minimum temps and times quoted on various be sites in a cooker top pressure cooker then the items may not be sterilised properly, in reality will this cause problems not sure but one to be aware of?

Cole-Palmer sell it, and the bags that have an indicator, costs though.

Cheers Orlando. I should have guessed that King Scientific would stock autoclave tape.

I got some of a couple of my flasks and other stuff from them too.

I've bought a few things from them, particularly large flasks, price is good, delivery reasonable and always quick to arrive, recommended site

I've spent a bit of time on ebay and sending messages to people who refuse to reply.

After looking at All American pressure canners and thinking if only they were cheaper I think i've settled on this one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120920542528? ... 1438.l2649

It seems they are pretty big in the US and spare parts wouldn't be a problem. I imagine it could be a pain to try and get new gaskets for a Chinese import. At least in this listing Import Charges aren't a last minute surprise as they're listed in the add.

Still very expensive though.

That's a pretty good price actually, mine is now nearly twice that with carriage charges.
