Equipment - Mashing / Boiling Tun

Post by Reg » Sat May 07, 2005 11:30 pm

I went into the garage today to look out my mash / boiling tun. (Basically, its a 5 gallon polypropelene brewing tun with a kettle element and thermostatic control). I have the urge to brew... :D

Of course it's... ehem... f*cked! The element is physically broken where something has dropped on it whilst in storage and the company that made them has gone out of business.

So, I will either have to go back to big pots, a stove and a thermometer, or look at getting a new one. I remeber however that this rather flimsy arragement cost me £60...

So what to do guys? Huh!?

http://www.heatingelementcompany.co.uk/default.asp sells elements that fit boilers. Search on product code 06565J (the direct link to the page won't work for some reason). I got that one for my boiler (an Electrim bin).

They delivered within a few days and the element's still going strong after 3 years (and it gets some hammer!).
