Beer mixing paddle / spoon
Those cheap plastic beer paddles are cack for mixing AG . They snap and bend when hot.
Does anybody know where to buy a decent stainless or plastic paddle that won't cost the earth?

Aye at £23 plus p&P its one of the best prices I've seen. Still I prefer to pay £10 for some stainless rice paddle or whatever it is from some shop.
For 23 quid I can buy a stainless steel spade for the garden, why are they so expensive?
Any more ideas?

I have one of these which at £1.32 inc vat is ridiculously cheap. But it is robust, you can even do this with it

I have one of those... I bought it about 30 years ago.orlando wrote:I have one of these which at £1.32 inc vat is ridiculously cheap. But it is robust, you can even do this with it
About 5 years ago, when I started brewing again, I found it in the garage with the rest of my old kit... and I'm still using it!

Wow, makes the point you don't need much else for a standard brew, but I guess once you get to 50l plus it would falter.Blackaddler wrote:I have one of those... Re: Beer mixing paddle / spoon
I've had a couple of the cheap plastic jobbies, they both snapped. The last one turned into rubber when heated about 60C. Perhaps they vary in quality...but, I'd rather spend a little more on something that lasts at the moment.
Couple of options????????

My normal brewlength these days is about 55L, but I don't really see that it makes much difference.orlando wrote:Wow, makes the point you don't need much else for a standard brew, but I guess once you get to 50l plus it would falter.Blackaddler wrote:I have one of those... It does start to go slightly bendy when stirring boiling wort, but nothing serious.
Re: Beer mixing paddle / spoon
This Ikea potato masher appears to be all stainless, easy to clean, longer than an average potato masher and very sturdy. We had one in the kitchen so I bought another specifically for brewing. I think mine cost £4.20 (+plus a day lost and loads of other stuff bought in the store itself..)

Re: Beer mixing paddle / spoon
How about a paella spoon. Might be a bit flimsy though, not sure.
A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure.
