Cooling beer from a barrel

Post by Jim » Mon Jun 27, 2005 6:57 pm

I don't have any gear for cooling my kegs in this very un-British hot weather.

However, I did try freezing my glass last night (down to about -24C according to the display on the freezer) and it was remarkably effective.

The only trouble is you have to freeze a glass for every pint you drink, and I only have a 4 drawer freezer and about 10 pint glasses :D . What do you folks do about cooling?

Jim, put the keg in the fridge ;)
The best is to found an old fridge that you can use only for beer :D

Hi Jim, last summer I bout a couple of pint looking glasses from Tesco. They have a reservoir running all around them with liquid in, you pop them in the freezer
and the liquid freezes-up, pour a pint and hay presto a 'NICE COULD ONE'

Hi Peter (welcome by the way). Yeah I've seen those before, but only plastic ones, which I didn't buy as I don't like drinking out of plastic glasses. It's bound to be better than drinking warm beer, though!
