Twas a few nights before Christmas and all through the brewery not an element was firing, not even the HERMS,
The system was checked with the greatest of care, with the hope that soon beer would be brewed in there,
Despite the help of a forum so great, the builder thought brewing would not be his fate
But after hours of trying with multimeter and prong,
It seems that the SSRs were the thing that were wrong...

In short I had AC input SSRs but managed to swap them from some DC ones I had and it all works! :D

Thanks everyone for your help, now I just have to calibrate it and it will be brewday!

Do you think it's worth connecting a wire from the output of (for example) the HERMS SSR to one side of the HERMS output plug and a wire from the other side of the output plug to the neutral bus?
definitely
you shouldn't get 240v as they are the same potential
wanna bet :D ,although without a load there shouldnt be.,but the meter becomes the load #-o

You've just blown my mind. I've had this argument and won countless times. And proved it on a light switch.

Here it is!

Just finished calibrating the PID/HLT, thought 2315 was a bit late to start on the HERMS/Mash Tun! All being well I'll aim for a Boxing Day brew!
