Hi Guys
Advice needed re PID & P100 Probe. The probe has three wires 2 red and 1 green. The PID appears to have only 2 connections for the probe. Any clarification really appreciated.

PID & P100 Probe
Re: PID & P100 Probe
Connect the 2 reds together. Extra cable is to account for cable resistance. Pt100 can come as 2 wire, 3 wire or 4 wire. It is a resistance reading so you should not damage controller by connecting incorrectly.

Experiment is correct in what he's saying but any chance of a link to or pic of the pid just to confirm you don't have a third terminal

Hi Belter
Definately no third link. It presently working with a K type probe but was advised to get a P100 as I hear they are more accurate.

Re: PID & P100 Probe
Just to clarify here a. PT100 will not work where a K type thermocouple is expected. PT100 is a resistance theremomemeter (100ohms at 0DegC and 138.5 at 100DegC) K type thermocouple works on Milli volts. These two probes are not compatible. If the controller originally had k type then PT100 may not work. (Caveat - Not sure what controller you have electronics may allow both)

Wow patch that is a really nice piece of kit. You are right it can take different types. Just did not want to have you connect it up and then scratch your head if it did not work. Good luck with it. Also just to note I have seen thermocouple s (k type and others) not read well on a stir plate.
