Ebay seller faliure on Universal 2750Watt 230V Kettle

Post by Titch » Wed Mar 19, 2014 10:56 am

This is a story about how an ebay item bought in November is still outstanding;

item bought 29th November
one was faulty advised the seller 5th December, item was promised as dispatched
11th Still no items so contacted seller, he confirmed it was sent 5th
16th Dec i check if there return address was on it ?
17th Dec i visited the shop bought a further 6 units, asked if i could return and swap the faulty one?
He advised he could not swap but would take the unit and pass on, and to contact the lads via ebay to arrange replacement.
I asked if he wanted the faulty element or the whole lot as it was as per ebay listing. he said best leave the lot, so i did
17th i email and they ask if i would like another sending ?
3rd Jan he confirms a replacement was sent on the 5th > i thought he sent another on the 11th ?
3rd Jan he says he will send another with a prepaid envelope to return the faulty one
8th Jan i finally get a replacement element but no plug.
27th Jan he claims that the replacement plug was sent on the 8th
6th Feb still no plug so he says he will resend again.
24th Feb Quote "Hi sorry about that I'm not sure what keeps happening to your order I will pack it myself today."

19th March i get this reply after contacting him again
Quote "Hi sorry we have already sent you several of these in the post something is going very wrong in the post we cannot send you anymore sorry."

so i reckon he has claimed to resend over 8 times between original purchase and the current plug.

They are called Spares-2-go in ellsemere port, the elements seem ok , not used in anger yet but shocking customer service

up to you if you want to risk it , they are cheap but no idea of customer service
i wish i had gone to someone else now, life is too short for crap like this

I hope you left feedback to that effect, that is pretty pi$$ poor really.

DId you actually go into the physical shop for some other stuff too, or have I misread that?

He's pulling your plonker. Claiming to have sent it that many times is a ploy to wear you down (and, yes, string you along beyond the feedback time limit). I've had it once with a Chinese ebay seller. If the item is cheap enough sellers will give in eventually.

I misread your sequence of events and I thought after not receiving the element that you went back on ebay and bought six more from the same seller! I apologise for the bad words I thought about you...

I had a bit of a weird one with a spark plug for a vintage engine.
I ordered it and quick as you like an envelope turned up. A flat envelope. Inside it was a squashed flat box for the correct spark plug but no spark plug. I quickly checked the ebay description to make sure I had not fallen for someone selling the box rather than the item but no.
The seller was very apologetic and suggested it must have fallen out (of the sealed flat envelope).
Equally as prompt was the arrival of the second envelope. Also flat. Also sealed. Also containing a flattened box but no spark plug.
At this point I'm thinking I've been scammed but I contacted him again and he sent out the real item this time, also in a box.
He was polite and prompt and very apologetic but I just couldn't fathom it. Does he have a whole collection of empty spark plug boxes and just tries this on with some buyers relying on them getting bored?

There is a simple solution. Keep an eye on the dates and open a case, that usually shits them up so they do what they should and if not, you can escalate and get a refund.
I'm in the process of doing this with those people who refurb regs. Been waiting more than a month with no reply to messages. Cheeky sods.
