Hi Guys was looking at making one of these Counter Flow Wort Chillers. Can any of you guys who have one explain exctly how they work. Do they affect the cold break of what. Any advice really appreciated.

Counter flow chillers work by having the hot wort flow through a metal tube which is inside another tube through which cold water flows.
The wort flows in one direction while the water flows in the other. You can make a cheap one with a length of copper microbore fed down a garden hose (which I believe is Jim's weapon of choice).
If you get the flow rates right and have a long enough flow you can get your wort coming out of the chiller at pitching temperature.

Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.
