It might be OK, but I would just chuck it away once you've taken the reading. Putting it back in the main brew is just asking for trouble, and is it worth it for the sake of about 1/4 pint of beer?

I am pretty sure you will be fine Wanus. As long as you didn't add the yeast to the FV, then the hydrometer will still measure the density of the liquid. Even if you did add the yeast, I doube 2 - 3 hours would have a huge effect.

Sounds good fella. I saw in the other thread that you had hopped your previous with fuggles, how did it turn out. I wouldn't know where to start with hopping a stout!

Its gettin better with time MG.As the weeks go by it tastes maltier n slighty sweeter with a nice bitter finish.I read somewhere on ere that fuggles goes well in stouts so tried it.As i`m fairly new to this game i think trying things is wot its all about.I now know a few things that work n a few things that don`t :o

Years ago I had a boots plastic one, coopers do one , but only if you buy the starter kit. While over in oz I tried to get one from their shop, but no luck
no palate, no patience.

Drinking - of course
