It shouldn't really matter are they are all pretty much similar. Someone just happened to have one they didn't need.

Cheers. Expect many questions when I get round to trying this.

Maybe this it to obvious. But there's a similar thermo device in the U.S that you just plug the freezer into and the probe just switches freezer on and off to keep at temperature with messing with any electrics needed. Could not just order this with plug converters and use that I wonder?

you could but youd need to add 2 transformers to your shopping list,1 to get the uks 240 volts down to 110v for the unit and then another to step it back up from 110v to 240v to run the fridge/freezer
Warning: The Dutch Coffeeshops products may contain drugs. Drinks containing caffeine should be used with care and moderation

As you can see. Electrics is not my strong point.

Yes, there is.
The STC1000 is also available in 110V versions.

That is not what I think Bunglebrewsbeer means.
There are these devices I've seen mentioned on both US and Aussie homebrew sites that require no modifications.
This is on type from Johnson controls

There is this on Amazon.co.uk (220v) but currently unavailable.
You may find something on Aliexpress.

Bear in mind that these will only do heating OR cooling not like the STC which does both ;)

If it means no wiring I'm all for it. Clueless!

only issue with a plug the fridge in controller is you are limited to the fridges minimum setting for crash cooling, to drop the crash cool to 0-1C bypassing the fridge thermostat is generally needed.
