I bought mine second hand from windrider (he got it from powell brewing) so only currently tested with cold water but yea I tipped the whole lot. so I dunno how this will affect the hop bed.

Mine is as close to the base of the boiler as I can get it, basically touching the floor.
You want the wort pickup in the boiler to be as low as possible to minimise waste, and then you should get most of the wort out with a syphon effect.

Ive got a blue mango chutney barrel which im making into a boiler.
Because the bottom four inches curves a lot, i have to put the tap
above this or the tap wiil be pointing upwards inside.
Can I tip my barrel to get the last six litres out?

With 4 inches you could nipple then copper elbow then short length of pipe another elbow then hop filter that might work
