Pipette size for a refractometer?
I need to buy a new pipette for my refractometer.
The question is what size?
1/2/3/5 ml or ???

Are you looking at the disposable plastic variety or a reusable borosilicate type?
I recently purchased a hundred 3 ml disposable plastic for the equivalent of £1.75 delivered.
Work fine for me.

The disposable ones, so 3ml is the way to go?

Doesn't really matter... You only need a couple of drops, so even 1ml is overkill.

As above you only need a couple of drops. But I also use them for measuring out starsan for dilution so I'd get the 3 or 5 ml ones. But that's my requirements not yours

OK just ordered 100 1ml ones. Should keep me going for several years.

I use a small syringe for this. Must admit I'd not thought of using a pipette. I don't think the ones that came with my refractometer are likely to be very accurate.Andy wrote:As above you only need a couple of drops. I sometimes just get a drop on my finger on the hot side!
