Beer Taps & Gas bottles

Post by Frothy » Fri Jul 28, 2006 9:49 am

Hi y'all

Couple of things I'm having difficulty getting hold of.......
Bought a 2nd hand beer font from ebay and it came with some nice taps but no nozzles to dispense with->

I contacted brewfitt who distribute these fonts and they told me that the nozzles are supplied by "the brewer." The tap on the right has a large guinness handle and I've since found out that virtually every tap has a different thread :(

Also with the keggerator construction underway I'm looking for a small co2 gas cylinder to fit inside it - something like this-> I can find places to hire them from but nobody yet will let me buy one. this sort of size-> Image

adios

My font (Celli from Brewfitt) came with nozzles (below right). And the thread seems to be common with other taps I have - certainly a plastic freeflow sparkler (below left) fits the font. Now, Brewfitt must supply spare parts for their fonts - I wonder if a nozzle from one of their Celli fonts would fit yours? Outside width of thread on font is 5/8".

Jason nice font - those are lovely taps. I measured and the chrome tap is 4/8" and the std plastic one is 5/8" thread width. I think I'll replace the taps esp as the two with guinness handles might be quite desirable to some guinness buff- but they aren't worth much without the nozzles I think, will speak to brewfitt again as the font came with badge holders that were badly damaged in transit - so I need a quote to get them replaced on insurance.

Thanks DAAB now you mention it I was in my favourite haunt the other day in Northampton and they had exactly the same chrome taps so I'll try and befriend the bar manager. Withr regards to the 5L gas bottles I'll probably just hire one at 1.50/month and see if they'll do me a deal.

thanks

P.S. Jason - do the brewfitt taps have JG fittings on the rear? 5/8" or the smaller?

Matt, the taps have JG 3/8" fittings.
Shame about the badge holders - hope you get it sorted. BTW How do they work? I didn't bother to get any with my font, but now I think it would be nice to see which of my brews is on each tap. Is it possible to create your own badges? ie, do the badges come apart and allow you to slip in a piece of paper with your own badge design?

To Boot - they don't make these badge holders anymore (some prat posted the font with them still attached as above and with no protective packaging.) They all unscrew from the bar which screws into a hole in the top of the font. The badges are pre-produced plastic printed badges which I might paint white and as you say stick my own stickers on the front. The modern badge holders Brewfitt sell fit any font and simply clamp between the taps and the font- much better design.

thanks - 3/8 is what I meant
