See, said I was gonna be busy

Hi Folks,
Thought you might like to see my work in progress.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g270/ ... nifold.jpg for the mash tun. Saw a Brupaks mash tun and copied that design. Yes, I had access to a pipe bender as I now have my lathe, workshop tools here in Byfleet. Must admit it took two attempts to get the radius right. Only allowed for one thickness of pipe in my calculation.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g270/ ... Pieces.jpg for my counter-flow chiller. Spent more time running around getting the bits for this than anything. Going to thread the 8mm pipe through the PVC pipe I got from a local hardware shop. I am sure that there is no real pressure whilst in use so didn't bother with reinforced pipe. I'll let you know if the kitchen gets flooded ;)
Tap is also installed in the Thermos cool box BTW
I have resized the pictures to 640x320 for easier downloads.
Cheers to you all, Mark

ooooh yes. Every 5 or 6 mm I would suggest and at least 1/2 way through if not 2/3rds.

Lovely looking ;)

Thanks for the advice about more slits in the manifold. I was goning to show off and set it up in the milling machine with a slitting disc to cut them but in the end decided that it was not going to need to be a thing of beauty/accuracy so set to with a trusty hacksaw. :)
Now about to thread 10 meters of copper pipe through the psatic outer, so if you hear some distant swearing....
BTW With the tee-pieces I didn't need to add any further solder. I smeared plenty of flux around each joint, assembled them all then held it by one of the stubs vertically in the pipe and used a gas powered blow torch played on the tee-piece until the flux flowed, then applied the heat to each joint untill I saw the solder 'flash' round, then moved straight on to the next one. In fact I actually had a little run of solder out of one joint, didn't know there was so much in these fittings with a solder ring. Wasted nearly £6 on a roll of solder I didn't use. :(

And for your pleasure my finished http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g270/ ... ounter.jpg wort chiller.
Took around 10 minutes to thread the pipe with the aid of my partner Sarah (Thanks) and 1/2 hour to trim the stubs and fit the compression fitttings and test. One leak due to a jubilee clip not being tight enough.
How do you guys attach the 8mm pipe to your taps BTW?
Regards, Mark

Tis certainly that, a thing of beauty indeed, both in appearance and function.

Very nice job WB...

You could always show off with some photos of your milling machine instead. Is it free standing? I've wondered before what the lathes that have an integrated vertical milling/drilling attachment are like - do you know if they are worth it?
