Beginning to think about this a bit.

The hop filter in the boiler is a circular mesh one from Brewbuilder. It's connected to the back of the tap on the boiler--obviously!!

If the pump takes the wort from the tap and then back into the boiler it will suck the hops down onto the filter. Will this stop the flow?

Yes. Filters do not work well when you are putting suction on the outlet - it just attracts all the break and hops straight onto the filter and clogs instantly.

Two options:
1. Put your hops in bags or a spider so you can withdraw them before recirculation.
2. Use only pellets and get rid of your filter. As long as you're using a magnetically coupled pump and don't have any tight restrictions they'll flow around the system just fine.
