Mash tun porn

I've just ordered a high end mash run from Brew builder , like this one pictured but with an extra tap at the top and a thermometer, plus a custom false bottom. I wasn't sure till he sent me some pictures.....here are a few

really surprised how much cool stuff brewbuilder does that he doesnt list on his website.
he does triclamp pots up to 400l with etched markings etc. must be busy enough with just word of mouth

enjoy .. just be warned that it will need a LOT more preheating and probably a few degrees hike in strike temp too if switching from a coldbox tun..

Bergland thermopots are relatively straight forward to convert to a mash tun but buying one already with a the valve fitted is a great idea also. For me, the worst part of the conversion was using an angle grinder to cut out the slot in the base for the 1/2 inch bsp pipe.

Mine got delivered last week. The pot is insanely good. +1 to increasing your strike water temp though. Probably need 6 or 7 degrees extra

If you don't mind me asking, how much extra is the full build on top of the base pot price? Very nice looking bit of kit - did you say you had a tap at the top? If I went with one I'd want a recirculation port somewhere near the top, but it is not clear to me how easy that would be to do through the double-skin.

The bottom tap and centre drain were included in the pot price. False bottom extra. I got mrlard to cut a hole for 20 quid and got a tap kit for my top return which wasn't much more than drill bits and qmax. He made a great job of it and added some parts for the tap kit to compensate for the wall thickness.

I won't go to exact pricing as there not on his website yet ! but the extra's cost less than buying them and the drill bits needed to do them myself

Haha. I've just got a 100l HLT off him with HERMS coil fitted.





Was then going to get one of those mash tun in the new year.

Never built anything like that before so found it quite tricky in parts. Looking at that mash tun I envisage it being fiddly getting that elbow screwed on at the bottom. Might just be me though.

I believe you screw in the deck fitting , using a keyway , and the elbow will stay in line
