How are the covers held on to the pots?

Where did you get the sockets, that's a nice touch not having leads trailing about.

Drilled through the alloy boxes and used the back nuts of the elements to secure it all together. Being metal on metal they're really secure.

The sockets are awesome got them from maplin http://www.neutrik.com/en/powercon-20a/
You can just twist them off for cleaning

If you can wait a few days places like http://cpc.farnell.com/ offer a better range and price than maplins, for example a powercon plug and socket is £2.50 cheaper from cpc ,including delivery to your door, and they stock the much better powercon true1.

Its surprising how costs can add up when building a system, I was just looking at those powercon true1 plugs and sockets, if I have a control box with 4 Element sockets and also have panel mount plugs on the Element and then separate leads with plugs and sockets each end starts adding up over £92 just on those and that's from cpc.

CPC is slightly better value don't forget VAT on there prices.

Before the exchange rate went wonky, thoman was about the cheapest place for powercon, there list even beat our usual suppliers trade price by a couple of pence, which soon adds up when your buying by the hundred

My 3 vessel parts are piling up, no progress on the build but I like nice things and I do like those connectors, hate to think what the system has cost and what it will cost when complete

I'm glad the pubs charge so much, makes it so much easier to justify lol

Haha I know the feeling! I did a quick tally the other day and I think my build has cost about £300 when you factor in the cost of drill bits ect. Could have been less but I ordered up a bottom drain kit for the thermopot as well as 3 piece tap kit from Mr Lard.

I've told the misses that it's an investment and will last forever. But I think I'm banned from buying beer now!

I've put a crimped eyelet onto the earth and attached it to one of the retaining nuts of the powercon inlet

Latest update...

Boiler finished. Going to replace the original rubber washers on the elements with some foodgrade silicone ones as I don't trust my cheap Chinese ones. They really smell of rubber and I don't fancy them tainting the beer.

The mash tun is getting there. The centre drain hole is cut as well as both 50mm holes in the outer skin. A mate is lending me his angle grinder at some point this week to cut the channel for the pipe work.

In the meantime my perforated stainless sheet has arrived from eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142264664707
I think it's a bargain really, they even cut it to size using a plasma cutter free of charge.
