On the back of my nodemcu it says to use 9600 but that didn't work. Changed it to 115000 and it worked first time

No probs. I actually prefer brewpiless to brewpi. Not only because it's an awful lot cheaper but because it can update a thingspeak channel so I can keep an eye on temperatures from anywhere.
Now to find something else to use my raspberry pi for.

The $1M question, how do you format the dates to UK format?

Glad you got it sorted Rob! Once our broadband I'd back on tomorrow I'll upload it to one f my spare NodeMCU boards and give it a whirl. One thing I'd like to do is have it output to NodeRed running locally on my Pi.

Cheers,
Jamie

Probably just a simple change in the code somewhere. No idea where though

Raise it as an issue on Vito's github webpage, he may introduce a date format option.

I've emailed him as I'm in touch with him and I don't think he really uses the issue bit of GitHub

I'll feedback when he replies, I'm working on the brewmaniac manual for him and he's pretty quick with things like this when I mail him so fingers crossed it's an easy update.

Hmmm, just uploaded Brewpiless to a NodeMCU board and nothing happens. A blue LED on the board comes on and stays on but no access point is started up.

I've not got any peripherals connected to the NodeMCU, perhaps it's barfing, expecting a display, temp probe etc ?

FYI Vito has made changes to the date system for the next release so it will display the date according to the locale so the UK format should be picked up.

I'm glad to hear people are getting their controllers working. I must admit I never figured out the brepiless properly. I can build and upload the code to my boards but it doesn't quite work. As soon as I tried to configure it, the board would not respond. On the rare occasions I would get the list of devices back it'd fail to save the configuration. Luckily Vito has compiled bin files in his repository. My botched version was good enough to use ota update to overwrite itself with his binary. After that it worked like a charm. I now have it watching over Jim's Wee Bastard bubbling in my fridge :D. As soon as I have some time I'll make it log to the internet too.

Nice one Rad. How many temp sensors have you rigged up ? Just for the fridge internals or one measuring beer temp too ?

I have 2 probes per controller. One for beer and one for fridge temperatures. I was thinking about adding the 3rd one for the outside temp. Not sure it's worth the hustle though.

The beer probe is stuck to the side of the bucket with some bubble wrap. I'll need to come up with a better insulation for it. It looks like it's getting affected too much by the fridge temp.

Next project will be the iSpindle but I'd need a wifi extender in the garage for that ;D
