I did my first 45L batch this week. I'd thought about everything up until the the transfer, filling the mash tun to the lip, using anti foam for the boil in my 50L boiler etc etc

It all went well until I'd cooled it down and realised that I wouldn't be able to lug the FV into the fridge manually!

Luckily I had some uncut silicone and pumping it into the FV in place worked perfectly- although I had been worried about the potential for problems.

It's the 50 litre model. I also have a 20 litre for when I get even older and unable to drink as much as I do now =D>

I just got a lift table. At 800kg capacity it's an overkill but I'm going to stack my fridges and lifting the ferementer to the top one won't be fun.

hydraulic or mechanical screw/scissor??

i significantly considered similar or a keg hoist at one point the keg hoists drawback was its manual winch was set in its back where as i would have needed it up against a wall just to fit in the shed..

Of course yer all talk n no trousers til u post the brewporn to prove it ;)
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(

You could transfer using a 12v diaphragm pump and some food grade hose, there are some ridiculously cheap options on ebay and they are of course safe to splash beer on and self priming.

Hydraulic jack pushing a scissor like arms up if that makes sense. It works fine but needs some TLC to shine again.

Moving/lifting full fermenters?

When it's time to move the beer into a bottling bucket I'll slide the FV back onto the trolley and use a rope hoist to lift it up onto the freezer so I can siphon from it.

All easy-peasy with a bit of organisation and some wheels.

I use a table lift, it was quite expensive but cheaper than being off work with a bad back.

I'm loving all this "brew porn"

I restrict myself to 23L batches. I can lift the FV, etc. with that much in. At least I can now...

I had such a bad back in summer 2017 that I could barely get out of a chair for a week, let alone brew. A year on, through physio, much more aware of posture and back health, and I'm lifting 23l fermenters ok again. Lifting wet grain refilled into their 25Kg bags, but probably double that wet, in a local brewery, was certainly an eye opener. Take care folks!

I was thinking of getting something like this as the table lifts are a bit out of my price range;

That will work great, I had to get a table due to the footprint of the conical.

I have three of the motor cycle lifts and use them quite a lot during the brewing process. As well as moving full fermenters, they make transfer from primary to secondary to bottling bucket very easy. You just jack it up high with the pedal and use gravity to make the transfer.
