Swing tops

Post by Fuzzybloke » Tue Nov 21, 2017 7:22 pm

I current using brown and clear beer bottles with press on caps. I would like swing tops without having to buy the bottles. Are there swing tops that fit standard beer bottles? I’ve searched without much success, so they may not exist.

Thanks

unfortunatly its often cheaper to buy beer in swing top bottles than it is to buy the bottles themselves with supermarket promotions.. it helps if you have a pal or 2 who like grolsh..

Aldi occasionally do a German beer promotion, usually in swing top bottles (lately they have been 50cL bottles). I am now in the habit of putting a wanted advert on Freecycle and Freegle in my local area to co-inside with these events. I've amassed 60 swing top bottles over the last 18 months this way.

Anybody in the Blackpool area want a load of Grolsch bottles, let me know, and I'll empty and rinse them for you. ... I've just gone overboard on to many Aldi promotions, I need the space for brown swingtops

I have a vauge recollection of a bottle system which allowed crown caps or could also be fitted with a swing top cage, I think it was a US gimick and consequently shipping/insurance/vat costs made it a very expensive proposition here in the UK.

Err we all know... Green is bad and equals skunky beer.... Right ?

Well that's if you leave them in the light...just like clear is, but I hear you say clear beer bottles in the supermarkets, well they use some stuff (hop iseormized extract stuff) not the real leafy or pellets type that we mostly use..

Kilner made these, they are very high quality thick bottles but are very expensive.

Swing tops and further down the page are the straps for converting normal bottles
