How to sex a cornie

Post by eskimobob » Thu Aug 31, 2006 11:50 am

I'm looking on Candirect to buy a few spares to allow me to fully service my cornies before I fill them all next month but am a bit confused by the different types available - any ideas:CC - these seem to be Coca-Cola kegs and use the pin-lock connect systeNC Series - these seem to be ball lockNC Jolly - these also seem to be ball lockAre NC Series and NC Jolly the same thing? - It would appear not since Candirect have two separate sections for them but does anyone know how to determine which I have (mine are definitely ball lock but series or jolly?).

I am probably going to purchase a new (used) lid as one of my kegs was supplied with a lid that does not have a pressure release valve therefore I can't easilly reduce the pressure when I want to serve. I'll probably also buy a set of gaskets for each one too. Lastly I need a long dip tube which Candirect said in an email they can supply.

AFAIK the 'jolly' ones are just slightly wider. I've never seen one in the UK - all that I've seen available here are what candirect/novanorm describe as NC series (slim) and these are the ones I have bought from them before.
Not having seen a 'jolly' I don't know if the lids/valves etc are the same. Probably best to stick with the standard NC.
Make sure you get one with a relief valve - they also sell kegs with a burst device which is a one time only pressure relief.

Hi EB, I've just got off the phone to Stefan @ Candirect.

I e-mailed him a list of parts that I wanted along with what I thought were the correct part numbers.
I asked him to check that I had ordered the correct items and asked him to confirm and invoice me...that was 7 days ago :(

So I rang him, he confirmed receipt of e-mail and was going to e-mail me back shortly.

Some of his parts are listerd as NC Cornelius and some are listed as just NC.

If you need my part numbers let me know ;)

It's strange ordering from Candirect. I put an order together two days ago on their website. This just generated an email to them, which I sent.... I've heard nothing since, no confirmation e mail, no details of how to pay for the order. It's a shame because they seem the 'closest place' to get corny spares. I'm tending to agree with DAAB - if they can't respond to my order I'm not gushing with enthusiasm to give them my money. Has anyone actually received goods from them - how did you pay for them if so? :(

I know what you mean, but for spares I don't know a better place. I have ordered successfully from them in the past - each time I phone Stefan the next day and I've had the confirmed order and PayPal request (this is the only way to pay) by the end of the day.
It is frustrating that you need to do this, but Stefan is always so helpful and polite when you speak to him. I can only assume they are very busy/understaffed.

Since I posted the last message I've had an email from Stefan saying he'll start the order at the beginning of next week. Not exactly speedy but at least progressing in the right direction! Glad to hear you've had succesful dealings with them though.

Thanks Guys. Part numbers would be great Vossy; if nothing else, I can check against the ones I have and if they agree then I will be more confident. Cheers.

I e-mailed candirect with another order today. Stefan replied asking if I still wanted the other previous order. I said no, but could I please have a pay pal invoice for this up to date order...that was at 4pm....can't give my money away  :(

It's quite simple though I don't understand Stefans system.

I send you an invoice confirming on receipt of payment that I will forward your goods to you. You then log into your pay pal account, click on 'make a payment to someone' and then you enter my e-mail address and pay the funds...dead simple really.

I'm going to ring Stefan tomorrow as I think there may be some confusion about this.

His basket generates an invoice as such but I was awaiting e-mail confirmation, like you do. Maybe he thinks the basket invoice is confirmation Hmmmm

From my experiences with Stefan, he will send you an email detailing exact costs. At the same time he will make a request via PayPal for the cash.

I can't get a pay pal invoice from Stefan JA. I even sent him the request in German last night so lets hope it turns up today.

I cancelled my order with Candirect after hearing nothing and discovering that Hop and Grape stock the parts. If you look on their website you'll see lots of the stuff from Morebeer. Obviously it's cheaper for us lot to get them shipped from Durham than it is from America!
