I plan to sit it on the 15mm pipe that supports my hop filters so should be well belpw

Hm. Not sure about that. When I used to deliver my wort to the bottom of the kettle it seemed to have two effects. The first and worst of the two was when chilling. I noticed it took longer and realised that I was delivering chilled wort to the bottom of the kettle where my tap was drawing wort to be chilled.
