Fermenter options
Fermenter options
While my pastic fermentor bins have got a bit scratched and old i'd like to replace them.
Does anyone have good recommendations for plastic / metal replacemnts?
I do 25L batches, and they live in an insulated cupboard so there is plenty of room!
Cheers,

Re: Fermenter options
I have one of these I know it is expensive but it will probably last longer than me. When I used plastic I found I was replacing them within every 2 years at least so if I had bought one at the start I would be quids in by now.

Re: Fermenter options
I like these: https://www.homebrewshop.be/en/speidel- ... rlock.html
And have been using a couple of 20 litre versions for a while.
But like Dennis says, all plastic gets scratched up eventually and then cam get infections embedded.
Steel lasts a lifetime and can be sanitised with heat as a final resort. The brew buckets are nice, Brewbuilder also does a range of flat bottom steel fermenters.

Re: Fermenter options
All depends on what I'm brewing and batch size, I either use the Wilcos FVs pictured or ferment in corny kegs.

Re: Fermenter options
I use buckets of the type in the post just above. I've not had trouble with scratching but I only clean with a cloth or one of those silver over sponge things that are supposed to be used on non stick pans.

Many plastic storage boxes have food-safe symbols.
I use an 80 ltr box from Wilko's, there's a 30 ltr for £5.

Re: Fermenter options
These are great value and are perfect for the job.. Stainless steel and start at 30L capacity.. No need for plastic again.

Re: Fermenter options
Sadly not available; when I tried to get one a few months ago I think Rob said the company was not currently manufacturing but they were such a good product that he was hopeful either they or someone else would recommence production soon.StrontiumDog wrote: ↑Fri Jul 06, 2018 11:05 pmThis. Oh no really? They're amazing, I couldn't recommend more. Have you tried angel homebrewing?
