Stc1000 problems

Post by dshar » Sun Aug 05, 2018 10:31 pm

My stc temp probe has started playing up after some years of intermittent use.

I usually put the probe in a glass of water in the brew fridge to stop temp reading fluctuating too quickly and stop cycling the fridge too much, but now it looks like the probe is corroding and it looks like the readings are way off. Set too 7c and there’s ice forming inside!

I assume the corrosion has damaged the probe?
Any similar experiences?
Also- if i replace, i wont put it in water again :!: any better suggestions???

Cheers

My probe is stuck in a small piece of Celotex insulation which is wedged between the kegs. Kingspan or polystyrene would work just as well.
I brew therefore I ... I .... forget

ebay and a few of the quality home brew uk suppliers homebrewbuilder angel maltmiller etc should be able to supply you with a new probe, but be careful as not all NTC probes are equal so make sure the one you buy is suitable for the stc1000..
ist update for months n months..

Probably the probe yeah, they're very fragile. Only costs a few quid to replace
