Every homebrewer I know who bought one of them silvercrest vacuums ended up dumping them. They are crap. I was given one for free and stripped it out to keep the vacuum pump and dumped the rest of the carcase. I bought an Andrew James, https://www.google.com/search?q=andrew+ ... e&ie=UTF-8
Much better value for you money.

I use a hand pump and an iron which seems to work pretty well!

Males a good vacuum and packs the foil/material tightly. Only issue is that after some months, air seeps back in. I think its the vac bags i use rather than the seals the iron makes, since those look pretty solid. Others habe similar experiences or thoughts?
