Recommissioning Brewery

Post by FlippinMental » Sun Nov 08, 2020 5:13 pm

During the time since my reintroduction to the forum the redesign of the boiler and HLT controls has been completed and hooked up to the power supply. The boiler control is simple enough, consisting of an isolating switch, a couple of MCBs, and a push button on/off switch for each element. The element switches are orientated same as positioned in the boiler. The HLT control is a tad more involved, consisting of additional components of a PID, two solid state relays, and the temperature probe cable.

This afternoon the HLT was switched on, and to my surprise, the old components sprang back into life. The only problem was a dimmed and flickering segment on the PID set temp display - I can live with that. Here are a few photos.

Bubbles rising from the elements.

Next up is replacing the boiler electric cables for longer ones to reach the supply sockets, and installing some domestic sockets to power the freezer, pump and water chiller.

Still hoping to get a brew in for Christmas.

Regards

FM.

Missing photos, don’t know what happened there.

Love the innovative way of using salable lunchboxes to act as waterproof junction boxes.

Putting that into the bank

I’ve also used them to house the fridge/freezer temperature controllers, cheap and effective.
