Anyone reckon it'd be possible to connect this to beer/gas line

Post by chris2012 » Mon Nov 30, 2020 3:08 pm

I'm curious if I could connect the following:
https://stubbornmulebrewery.com/product ... spenser-2/
To beer/gas line, to serve from a normal tap.

I'm thinking I could possibly put silicone pipe over the metal pipe and use a hose clamp and use a JG--> hose barb connector

I think the gas part could be the hardest part, finding the right thread to use to connect to it.

Alternatively there's maybe there's something that does this already for mini kegs?

Silicone tubing is too flexible to use for serving under pressure.

I really can't even fathom how I would go about serving a mini keg like that from a full keg setup (and I'm normally pretty inventive about these things).

I also worry slightly about the safety of hooking a mini keg like that up. You can buy a stainless steel 5 litre keg for £40 and it will last pretty much forever.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.

Ah, yeah that's a good point, hadn't though of the pressure wrt silicone (I've only used it for brewing/beer engine).

Sorry to clarify this was an idea to serve beer from breweries that sell these mini kegs, rather than using for homebrew, which I agree a proper keg would be better.

That's the same as the Party Star tap.

Regular readers will know I have a barely used one available - I mostly bottle, but have some corny kegs too.

£30 inc postage if you're interested :)

I made this some years ago, worked OK. Still converted to cornies.

That looks very impressive :) What's the brass part out of interest? Just to clarify, that wand can be used for dispense from the keg? (I wasn't sure how it seals onto the keg)

Edit: I'm wondering if your wand is intended for filling the keg?

I've taken Cobnut up on the offer of the party star tap, so will see if I can try and adapt it.

Thanks.
It's anodised aluminium, some kind of hose barb, found it in a car parts online store.
It's intended for dispensing. Also works for counter pressure filling with keg to keg jumper tube.
Tight fit with the party keg rubber bung.
