Supplies?

Post by DDoe » Mon Jan 11, 2021 11:07 pm

Don't know if this is allowed, if not please remove.

I'm returning to brewing after many, many years and need to buy some new stuff, both equipment and ingredients. Hoping for recommendations for good suppliers please.

Thanks.

Welcome back to brewing!

I find the malt miller (http://www.themaltmiller.co.uk) really good for ingredients and equipment

https://www.brewbuilder.co.uk has some very nice equipment, I bought a nice looking mash tun from them last
year, which I need to get round to using, when it warms up a bit :)

Get Er Brewed, The Home Brew Company and Brew2Bottle are some of the other alternatives.
Just bear in mind at the moment, with lockdown, that they are all swamped with orders so some are taking a lot longer to deliver and some are deliberately having order windows each day (for those ordering malt) to prevent big delays; If you are just ordering equipment/extract it may not matter but check the website.

Angel Homebrew is also very well worth looking at.

Have fun buying all your new stuff!

I'll add Ballihoo for a wide range of kit. Large mail order warehouse on the outskirts of Cheddar. Only 8 miles from me so I can pop in for bits I need urgently.
I brew therefore I ... I .... forget

Thank you for your recommendations guys :D . Would like to try and get everything at the one place (shouldn't be a huge order) and now I have a good selection to look at.

We need to get in the shed and sort out what we have and haven't got already.
I have a list of what we need for our first brew and hope to be able to cross some bits off once we've had a look!

Home brew co are generally cheaper than the malt Miller I find. Especially for grain.

Geterbrewed are a pleasure to deal with!

Poor service for me with one of the shops mentioned, advertising products that they don’t actually stock to encourage you to buy their equipment on the premiss that you can easily buy cheap supplies from them.
Cheers and gone,

A shop mentioned above supplying the Cannular canning machine (easy to work out) has been advertising cans in various sizes for months now at really cheap prices.

I got in touch to buy a load as I was brewing for my wedding and was informed that he ‘couldn’t supply me any’ as he ran out of boxes to post them in but assured me he had a whole pallet of cans in his warehouse.

It’s been a good 4 months since then and they have been ‘out of stock’ the whole time. Clearly doesn’t have any and it’s just a marketing ploy to get people to buy the machine from him. Really really poor.

Thankfully I ended up having to move my wedding in the end and have since ordered cans from Staffordshire brewery who are fantastic to deal with
Cheers and gone,

Mozza

Again, thanks to you all.

I have ordered what I think is needed for the first brew🤞. I went with The Malt Miller as they were one of the two suppliers that had most of the stuff. The other being The Home Brew Company but they are having delays shipping to the UK at the moment due to Brexit paperwork, maybe next time! The couple of bits I couldn't get from MM have been ordered via ebay.

By the time it's all arrived and been quarantined (yes, we give everything 3 days) I expect to be ready to go in about 7-10 days.

Looking forward to it.
