Dettol?

Is Dettol usable as a sanitiser (obviously with lots of rinsing)? Clearly it's not optimal because of the oil content, but will it poison people or destroy the beer?

A pal has just bought his first kit unknownst to me and I've had an anxious text from him asking if Dettol is ok, that's all. I told him bleach would be better but I dunno whether he's got any.
