Cleaning Immersion Chiller for First Use
Cleaning Immersion Chiller for First Use
I've just finished my immersion chiller and was wondering what is the best way to clean it before use bearing in mind that there is flux on it due to my cack-handed attempt at soldering.
Re: Cleaning Immersion Chiller for First Use
Probably will get shot down for this...
As lomg as you used potable fittings (drinking water safe), lead-free solder and a water-soluble flux, a rinse with tap water should suffice.
It's good enough for hospitals and nurseries.
Fluxes such as Yorkshire Traditional will need a de-greaser and rinse. Still food-safe.

Re: Cleaning Immersion Chiller for First Use
I Just gave mine a thorough boil and then did a cooling test to see how long it would take... Takes about 25mins to a sensible pitching temperature.

I took out the top basket and ran mine through the dishwasher while she was out

Thanks Si, but I don't have a top rack and I don't think it would do my insides any good to swallow my chiller!!
