Washing Soda Crystals Boiled In Kettle

 DON'T!

I'm not sure if this has ever been covered before? Either way, in light of the fact that I've never been warned and have just done it .....

I used a hellishly good helping of Washing Soda Crystals as I'm washing out some brand new kegs. Dumped the crystals in my plastic jug. Added boiling water. Fine.

Poured that solution into a keg .....

Later in the Great Wash, I decided to 'warm up' the solution, ready for another keg. So, I poured it out of the last keg and into the kettle. Switched on and moved away to do something else.

Presently heard a Click, as the kettle boiled and switched off. Approached the kettle and watched, in horror, as it erupted and spewed boiling soda solution all over the place! And that kettle was barely half full. It went off like a Coopers!

So, there's, possibly, another warning to ye; Boiling water over Washing Soda Crystals? Fine. Washing Soda Crystal Solution put on to re boil? Extremely Dangerous!!!

Please Do Not try this at home!

Yep, it's frothy. That's why it's used for washing.
