Cleaning old demijohn

Post by cantona1111 » Sun Dec 13, 2009 8:19 pm

Picked up a very old demijohn in the market today, covered in white gloss paint, got the paint off but there is lots of old bits of crap inside still, soaked in hot soapy water, tried adding salt, only have a baby bottle brush and its not long enough,

Any old tricks of the trade you could tell me about

Try a Sodium percarbonate cleaner like OxyClean, they are normally fairly easy to come by and do a decent job at cleaning up crud and such.

Cheers

I've just cleaned a load that I had in the garage for a few years. Filled with a mix of soda crystals and VWP. Some on here use an oxy cleaner to get to the hard to get places. :D

I would also add that a Plug Chain in the bottom also helps if it's D I R T Y :D

Or I did hear that Rice helps.

especially as you want to avoid scratching the glass if you can as these will become great hiding places for nasties.
