A quick method of sanitising cornies?

Post by JackA » Mon Sep 27, 2010 12:23 pm

Based on seeing what other people do, here's the idea. The question is, which sanitising agent is best?

1. make sure everything is clean
2. add sanitiser through gas in
3. shake
4. add pressure using compressed air
5. remove sanitiser through beer out

Any problems with such a method? Ideally I'd like a no rinse sanitiser to do this - any suggestions on which to use and how much to use?

Cheers :)

I use the Peracetic Acid kit from The Malt Miller. Wash the cornies out with oxi cleaner, rinse and then before filling I give them a spray of the Peracetic Acid solution.

After cleaning a cornie, I make up a peracetic acid solution to 1 litre which I add to the keg. I then spray the threads then refit the posts which have been soaked in another peracetic solution, and refit the lid. A quick swill round with the peracetic making sure it covers every inch inside the keg and pour out through the lid.

Warm water in and some cleaner and shake rinse through the beer lines to clean them as well and repeat with water, job done.
